Glasses setup
Set up your glasses for ARTwain.
ARTwain shows each eye its own picture. For that, your glasses must be in full side-by-side 3D mode (often called "Full SBS"). Here is what you need, and how to switch on each model.
ARTwain needs AR glasses. Nothing plays on the phone screen. You need display AR glasses with a 3D mode and a phone with video out over USB-C.

- XREAL One
- XREAL Air
- XREAL xbx a01
- VITURE
- RayNeo
- Rokid

What you need
- An iPhone 15 or newer (USB-C). Not the iPhone 16e or iPhone Air: they have no video out. Older iPhones with Lightning cannot send full 3D.
- Display AR glasses with a full side-by-side 3D mode. XREAL is first. VITURE, RayNeo and Rokid are planned.
- The cable that came with your glasses, plugged straight into the phone. A charging-only USB cable carries no video.
- Android: coming later.
Every time you use it
- Plug the glasses into your phone. You see your phone screen in the glasses.
- Open ARTwain.
- Switch the glasses to full side-by-side 3D with the button for your model (below). The picture goes black for a moment. That is normal.
- ARTwain notices the switch and starts. When you are done, switch the glasses back to 2D before you go back to your phone.
Most glasses forget 3D mode when you unplug them, so you switch again each time.
XREAL One, One Pro, 1S, 1 Pro+ Tested first
- Double-click the X button to open the menu in the glasses.
- Go to Spatial Screen, then 3D Mode.
- Pick 3D Full SBS. Not Half SBS, and not REAL 3D.
Back to 2D: same menu, pick 2D. Tip: if the edges of the picture are cut off, make the screen size smaller in the same menu.
XREAL Air, Air 2, Air 2 Pro, Air 2 Ultra Supported
- Press and hold the brightness + button (under the right arm) for about 2 seconds, until you hear a beep.
Do the same to go back to 2D. There is no menu or message, only the beep. If the picture stays black after switching, unplug the glasses and plug them in again. Original XREAL Air: update the firmware first if 3D does not switch on.
XREAL xbx a01 Should work
- Press and hold the X button. The glasses start in full side-by-side 3D.
- If the picture looks stretched, press X once (it toggles between full and half side-by-side).
Hold X again to go back to 2D.
VITURE Planned
- One, One Lite, Pro: press and hold the Mode button.
- Luma, Luma Pro, Luma Ultra: press and hold R1.
- Beast: double-press R1, or long-press L+ and pick 3D.
Plug VITURE glasses straight into the iPhone. The standard charging adapter does not carry 3D on the Beast.
RayNeo Air 3s, Air 3s Pro, Air 4 Pro Planned
- Press a volume button and a brightness button at the same time.
RayNeo runs 3D at 60 Hz.
Rokid Max, Max 2 Planned
- Rokid Max: hold the brightness button for about 8 seconds. After 2 seconds it switches to half side-by-side; keep holding until it switches again to full.
- Rokid Max 2: hold the brightness button for about 4 seconds ("3D Mode 2").
Troubleshooting
Nothing shows in the glasses
Unlock the phone. Use the cable that came with the glasses, straight into the phone (no hub). Unplug both ends and plug in again.
Black screen after switching to 3D
Wait a few seconds: the picture rebuilds. If it stays black, unplug the glasses and plug them in again, then switch to 3D once more.
I see two pictures next to each other
The glasses are still in 2D. Switch them to full side-by-side 3D.
Everything looks stretched, or text shows in one eye only
The glasses are in half side-by-side mode. Pick full side-by-side (Full SBS) for your model above.
The 3D hurts my eyes or looks double
Check that the glasses sit straight and the nose pad fits. Take a break. If it keeps happening, tell us which glasses you have.
My phone home screen looks off-centre in the glasses
That is normal in 3D mode. Switch the glasses back to 2D when you leave ARTwain.
